Equal pay strike on London Underground, 1918

On August 24, 1918, the day after women bus and tram workers returned to work, a mass meeting of workers on London Underground railways also demanded equal pay for Tube workers. In addition, railway cleaners based in West London came out on strike for equal pay, despite the advice of J.H. Thomas, General Secretary of the National Union of Railwaymen.
