London Dock Strike, 1911

Strike action in the London docks in August 1911 achieved wage increases and some improvements in the system of casual labour. Ben Tillett from Dock, Wharf, Riverside and General Workers' Union and Ted Leggatt from London Carmen's Trade Union were prominent organisers of the strike.

In this photo, children from London's East End are shown imitating the strikers' demonstrations and wearing copies of the LCTU sashes which read "LCTU boy".
