The Equal Opportunities Commission celebrated its 30th anniversary with its 30Voices Campaign. They followed up 30 individuals who had been affected by the Sex Discrimination Act or the work of the EOC since 1975. From the stories and experiences collected, they produced booklets, postcards, posters and coasters/beermats. This poster shows Sue Nelson, who became Britain's first female coastguard in 1978 in Orkney. It was seven years before there was a second woman coastguard, but by 2005 there were 130 women in the job, nearly a quarter of all coastguards.
