Extract from a pamphlet, published in 1889 by the Dock, Wharf, Riverside and General Labourers' Union, which reprints a speech made by Ben Tillett in Whitechapel in 1887. In it, he describes the London dock workers' poor conditions and his attempts to organise the Tea Operatives' and General Labourers' Association.
