The first general Congress Award scheme ran between 1929-1932 as an incentive to membership recruitment. Awards in the form of lapel button, watch chain drop or brooch were given for the recruitment of 10 new members. The award was reinstituted in February 1934, using the design for the Tolpuddle Martyrs Centenary celebrations. Over subsequent years, diplomas and a silver trophy were added to the awards given until the scheme was suspended in 1940.
