An address sent to the Workers' Society of Naples in 1862 by George Howell, secretary of the London Trades Council. The workers societies were friendly or mutual aid societies and were the forerunners of trade unions in Italy. There was widespread admiration among British radicals for Garibaldi, the architect of the Italian Liberation Campaign.
