Walter Crane (1845-1915) was primarily a designer and book illustrator. He became interested in liberal politics in the 1860s and campaigned for the 1867 Reform Act. In the 1880s, he worked closely with William Morris. In 1884, he joined the Social Democratic Federation and later the Socialist League and contributed illustrations for 'Justice' and the 'Commonwealth'
