In 1884, the male carpet weavers of Kidderminster went on strike to protest against the employment of women in the weaving of velvet. This report in the March 1884 issue of The Women's Union Journal, published by the Women's Trade Union League, describes a demonstration where men pushed prams and carried placards portraying men doing domestic work.
