 Red Russia, by John Reed, 1919

‘Red Russia: the triumph of the Bolsheviki’ was published by the Workers’ Socialist Federation in 1919. The Workers’ Socialist Federation was led by Sylvia Pankhurst and grew out of the Women’s Suffrage Federation. The cover refers to the appointment of John Reed, an American journalist, as Soviet consul in New York – a post he never took up, owing to Lenin's disapproval of the appointment.
