The TUC has organised annual conferences for local trades councils since 1925. This photograph shows the special train organised to get delegates back to London from the 1951 annual conference in Clacton. The driver, ASLEF branch secretary Fred Andrews, is shown shaking hands with the Chairman of the conference, Sir Luke Fawcett, while Fireman E. Clover shakes hand with TUC Assistant Secretary , Victor Feather.
