In the early 1960s This popular music contest was organised annually by the London Trades Council to attract and recruit young trade unionists. In 1964 The finals were held on 18 November and among the judges were Malcolm Arnold and Norrie Paramor. Seventy groups and bands entered and first prize went to 'The Eastsiders' sponsored by the Transport and General Workers Union.
