The TUC opposed Government plans to privatise the publicly owned motor industry and in 1985 negotiations to sell off various product lines to Ford and General Motors foundered. However, the company was renamed the Rover Group, which was eventually sold to British Aerospace in 1988. This leaflet, produced by the West Midlands TUC, emphasises the negative impact of privatisation on the regional economy.
