During the summer and autumn of 1979, the Confederation of Shipbuilding and Engineering Unions organised an overtime ban and a series of one day stoppages in support of a claim for a basic weekly wage of £80 for skilled craftsmen. This photo shows the picket line at BL Ltd [British Leyland], Cowley during the strike on 13 August 1979.
